I really don’t want to give away much today, however let’s just say that some fun was had in Photoshop this morning for the picture round, very fitting for the time of year! Other than that, well players, I think I might have to keep you guessing for now.. :)
If you haven’t already.

My only advice to you today is to go sign Proposition 3-17.

Wow, I’ve managed to impress even myself today. The picture round that I just made for this evening’s trivia game at Brendee’s has got to be one of the nerdiest one’s I’ve ever come up with. Let’s just say the 50th birthday of someone inspired me to look at a whole mess of others in this category and it got me looking at similar things and – blammo! It just took off from there. Ranging from the 60’s to the present this thing could be a real game breaker tonight.
Getting the ball rolling.

It’s another week full of trivia and karaoke for us. I’m sitting at my desk high above the Barcrawler HQ building looking out my expansive picturesque window at the hustle and bustle in the streets below. I did no heavy reading this weekend, deciding to give my copy of the Epitome of Copernican Astronomy a well deserved rest. I did however manage to pick apart some information on a series of three ancient wars, how’s that for exciting? It was only slightly more enthralling than pondering the location of the Garden of Eden after a few shots of tequila, which while it has it’s merits, is about as poignant as R. L. Ermey explaining the importance of Thimble Theater. I digress. I look forward to seeing you all tonight at the Cat’s Meow and hope that my Milleresque monologue wasn’t all that unbearable.
Now I’m off to see if the new parts for my gas forge have arrived yet. Later.
Another day in the life.. and Watchmen, too!

This morning we buried a wonderful man, my great-uncle Pete. I don’t quite know what to say here except that he will be missed, especially for the laughter and joy that he brought into my life. It’s been many years since I was small enough to be picked up by my feet so he could shake the pennies out of my pockets. Damn, I used to actually stock up on pennies if I knew that I was going to see Uncle Pete – the strange things children do. It was good to see the family gathered to remember him. It was also nice that after the service my sister and I got a chance to go to lunch, something that we’ve never really done before but I hope will happen more often.
After the events of this morning/afternoon, I decided to treat myself on my day off, so fast forward to 11pm and I’m standing at the movie theatre purchasing tickets to see the Watchmen at midnight. To sum up, all I can say is “nice”. It’s good to see that someone actually cares about the larger image and not just action when making a comic book movie. Perhaps more particular fan boys will disagree with me, but I think that the entire movie was well done and a breath of fresh air considering some of the recent Hollywood trends towards this genre. Watchmen is definitely a great thought provoking and entertaining story that just happened to have had panels drawn for it. Ultimately it is complex, the violence is gritty and the audio/visual outstanding, I felt that this was the closest I’ve gotten so far towards watching a graphic novel come to life. There were moments that made me chuckle and moments that really made me feel for the characters. Thanks Zach Snyder. If I were a movie critic I’d give it 4 out of 4 stars ala Ebert/Roeper.
It’s Wednesday!

So I’ve spent the day doing things that needed to be done. Laundry, feeding myself, more laundry and a little web surfing.. even uncovered some other things that make me dislike politics even more. Still applying for my ‘Entertaining the Drinking Masses’ stimulus check (especially if I promote the drinking of ‘green’ beer on St. Patty’s), it should be a no brainer right? After all, congress can sneak into the bill the immidiate start of a project, like building a $212 million bridge to nowhere over the Everglades – despite the Miccosuke tribe not wanting it (it’s their reservation I do believe) and even the outright ignoring the orders of federal judge Ursala Ungaro to comply with environmental laws. Why couldn’t I get a stimulus check for say like $500,000 just for going out and giving the general population something to take their minds off the overwhelming economic troubles ahead? Surely it’s more useful then doing a project which likely to flood many parts of Miami-Dade county. Argh! It’s just so frustrating sometimes! $50 million for Guam? Let’s just give them their independence and keep the $50 million! Same goes for Puerto Rico – think how much money we wouldn’t have to spend if we didn’t have so many dependencies! It’s just like the guy who has too many cars, there’s always upkeep, the only way to get rid of the upkeep is to get rid of the extra cars – after all, you can only drive one car at a time.. so what do ya say congress, why don’t we just get rid of the extra ‘cars’ and start fixing up the old gas guzzler we already have? Hell, without the others to worry about we could actually start to fix the problems here instead of just patching them!
Ok, got that out of my system and I feel slightly better now.. well, back to the laundromat!
Here we go again!

Sorry for the delay, it’s been a busy day and an even busier week – we’ve got a lot on the burners this week, including our first ever 80’s Karaoke Party at Club XS in York! Aside from that, I spent the day with my soldering iron in hand doing some much needed repairs to some of our speakers and other misc. equipment that’s been stacking up around here. I also made the mistake of getting myself into the homebrew Sega Dreamcast scene (yeah, I’m a nerd) this weekend and now I’ve been finding it rather hard to stop playing around with such a cool piece of older gaming hardware! Anyway, it’s time to focus on actual work now. For tonights trivia game, at the Cat’s Meow in Manheim, I’m just going to be looking at events for this week in history – so if you head over to that place where you saw that thing that time you might want to study up because that’s what I’m doing right now.
